I create ludic experiences that traverse performance, digital-physical games, moving-image art and expanded reality. Through the lens of feminist materiality, I investigate lived experience within an increasingly mediated world, tracing the influence of everyday technologies on movement patterns.
My professional artistic practice began 25 years ago in dance choreography and performance. This embodied knowledge continues to inform my work today, now fused with feminist phenomenology and experimental game design methodologies developed throughout my graduate research-creation studies. This year, I will finish my PhD in Humanities studying video games as choreographic devices to theorize the influence of game movement—both player and avatar—on the psychosomatic experience of the game, and produce several creative outputs from this line of inquiry: machinima video, moving image art of ‘idle dancing’ and an art game exploring aging and feminine action heroes.
During my doctoral studies, I’ve also had the pleasure to work closely with Lynn Hughes and Bart Simon on their 4-year research-creation project, Scaling Liveness in Participatory Experiences. This SSHRC funded project involved cross-institution collaboration between faculty, graduate and undergraduate students as well as local and international visual artists and resulted in a participatory experience called The Other Market (2023) that was performed in Montreal and London UK in public spaces. I was the main Research Assistant for the project and the Lead Designer for The Other Market. I played a central role in shaping the player’s experience and integrating digital technologies through designing a locative audio system using bluetooth beacons and Raspberry Pi micro computers.
In parallel to my graduate work, I maintain a strong multidisciplinary artistic practice. In Winter 2026, I was Artist in Residence at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity as well as attended the Gushul Artist Residence, both in Alberta.
